Brazilian Violist Ricardo Lobo Kubala has Died, Age 54
The violist passed away recently following a brain aneurysm
A professor at the music department of the Institute of Arts of the Universidade Estadual Paulista, Mr. Kubala was a respected violist, pedagogue, and researcher in the Brazilian classical music scene.
An active researcher around contemporary and Brazilian music, Kubala has premiered several works for viola, including a concerto by Antônio Carlos Cunha, and a duo by Alexandre Lunsqui.
In Brazil, he has recorded several albums dedicated to Latin American Music. As a member of the Trondheim Soloists ensemble, he also recorded an award-winning album of Vivaldi's Four Seasons, featuring Anne Sophie Mutter.
