Prizes Awarded at France’s Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition
The Marmen Quartet and the Simply Quartet have been awarded joint top prize at the 2019 Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition
The UK-based Marmen Quartet and the Vienna-based Simply Quartet have this week been awarded joint top prize at the 2019 Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition – in Bordeaux, France.
Comprising violinists Johannes Marmen and Ricky Gore, violist Bryony Gibson-Cornish and cellist Steffan Morris, the Marmen Quartet are former major prize winners at the Joseph Joachim Chamber Music Competition and the Royal Over-Seas League Competition.
Comprising violinists Danfeng Shen and Antonia Rankersberge, violist Xiang Lyu and cellist Ivan Valentin Hollup Roald, the Simply Quartet are former 1st prize winners at the Haydn and Schubert and Modern International Chamber Music Competitions.
Both ensembles will received €20,000, 3 years international concert tour management with CLB Management - plus a professional photography session with Simon Buchou.
The 2019 jury comprised: Giovanni Bietti, Franck Chevalier, Kari Fitterer, Emmanuel Hondré, Alain Meunier and Cathy Wilkinson.
