This full-time position will involve creating a new strategic plan for the school and expanding the curriculum 

Founded in 1902, the University of Minnesota’s School of Music (SOM) includes 384 current undergraduate and graduate students and serves over 2,000 students throughout the university. 

SOM is coming to the end of its current strategic plan and as the incoming director, the successful candidate will be part of designing and implementing a new one. The plan aims to involve opportunities to increase enrollment, expand curricular offerings, support student career preparedness, and promote active engagement and positive school culture.

To celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2027, SOM will see its director join the faculty, staff, and students for a collaboration to mark the milestone and present an articulated vision of SOM being the place for students to thrive and prepare for professional careers.

The position requires outstanding artistic or scholarly credentials and a clear commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
