Applications Open for the Grunewald International Music Competition 2024

Open to violinists, violists, cellists, and bassists under the age of 35, the second edition of the Grunewald International Music Competition will take place in Berlin, Germany from December 2 to 22, 2024.
The competition will be held in the palace formerly owned by the Mendelssohn family, in Berlin's Grunewald. Participants have the opportunity to board onsite for the duration of the competition.
Additionally, players of different ages in the competition are divided into categories by instrument. Violinists and cellists have three categories (13 and under, 14 - 17 and under, 18 - 32), while violists and bassists have two (17 and under, 35 and under).
The senior categories for violinists and cellists will comprise three rounds — solo, with piano accompaniment, and the Final. All other categories will have two rounds — a solo round and the Final round.
First Prize in each category is worth €1,500 for those aged up to 32, €1,000 for those aged up to 17, and €500 for those aged up to 12. Smaller cash prizes are also available for Second and Third Prize, while those placed in fourth, fifth, and sixth positions will receive non-cash prizes and vouchers.
The chairs of the jury for each instrument are Dmitry Sitkovetsky (violin), Wilfried Strehle (viola), David Geringas (cello), and Klaus Trumpf (bass).

To apply, players should submit a CV, a copyright-free artist photo, a copy of their passport or ID, and a list of works selected for the competition — including opus and catalog numbers, as well as approximate details of the duration.
