Applications Open for the 2024 International Tibor Junior Violin Competition
Young violinists aged between 14 and 17 can apply for this Swiss competition until April 17, 2024
The 4th edition of the International Tibor Junior Violin Competition, which is run by the Tibor Varga International Violin Competition will take place in Sion, Switzerland from August 19 to 24.
Selected candidates, aged between 14 and 17, will have the opportunity to perform with a chamber orchestra and will select works from a predetermined list of repertoire.
First Prize carries a value of 5,000 CHF, while Second and Third Prize are 2,000 CHF and 1,000 respectively. There is also a prize for the best interpretation of the commissioned work, and the Audience Prize — with each prize being worth 500 CHF.
As part of the application, players should provide an audition video including a caprice by Paganini or Wieniawski, as well as the first movement of a sonata or sonatina by Mozart, Beethoven, or Schubert.

In 2024 the jury will comprise Pavel Vernikov (President), Marie-Claude Chappuis, Mario Hossen, Fumiaki Miura, and Eduard Wulfson.
