Applications Open for Assistant Professor of Violin at Carnegie Mellon University School of Music

Located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the tenure-track position will teach undergraduate and graduate violin students

 

The Carnegie Mellon University School of Music is seeking applications for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Violin.

"We seek an accomplished, dedicated, and inspiring artist and teacher to join our string faculty and build a robust and vibrant violin studio within the diverse environment of a large private research university," the school writes. "We are searching for an innovative role model with a strong pedagogical background and a demonstrated commitment to inclusive artistic excellence."

The duties for the position include:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate violin students
  • Perform necessary recruitment activities to build and retain a full studio
  • Coach chamber music ensembles
  • Maintain an active artistic profile, with impact nationally & internationally
  • Engage in service activities within the school, college, and university

The required qualifications:

  • A master's degree or equivalent professional experience
  • A significant record of ongoing professional experience as a soloist, chamber musician, and/or orchestral musician
  • Experience teaching violin at an advanced level and attracting, developing, and retaining outstanding students
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multifaceted academic environment, including collaborations in the School of Music, College of Fine Arts, and the wider university
