Applications Closing for New York’s Meadowmount School of Music
The deadline for applications is January 20, 2024, with late applications considered if space is available
Founded in 1944 by violin pedagogue Ivan Galamian, the Meadowmount School of Music is a seven-week summer program for aspiring professional violinists, violists, and cellists aged 13 to 30+.
Located in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York, the school’s alumni have included Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, Pinchas Zukerman, Kyung-Wha Chung, Lynn Harrell, Joshua Bell, Jaime Laredo, James Ehnes, plus Ani and Ida Kavafian.
To apply for the program, a 15-minute video of unedited solo works must be uploaded for consideration; for Meadowmount’s chamber music placement, a separate video must also be made of the set chamber music excerpts:

Candidates will be notified of their acceptance to the program via an email that will be sent at the beginning of March 2024.
“I had three students attend Meadowmount last summer,” said violinist Jaime Laredo. “They loved it and thrived! They are hooked on the Meadowmount School of Music and will return as often as possible. I couldn’t be happier or more appreciative of what Meadowmount has to offer my students.”
“Most importantly, Meadowmount is a place of wonderful musical growth,” added violinist Huali Dang. “Every day, I focused on my practicing. I will never forget the years I spent at Meadowmount.”
