Applications Closing for South Africa's 2022 UNISA International Strings Competition
Hosted by the University of South Africa, in Pretoria, the competition is accepting applications until August 2, 2021
The 2022 competition will run from January 25 to February 5, and the first prize winner will receive $15,370 USD.
Open to international violinists and cellists 30 years and younger, the competition will also run a parallel category for jazz bassists and guitarists.
A return economy class air ticket and free accommodation will be provided for all candidates selected to participate in the opening live round.
The international jury will be announced soon.
Applications are to be received by August 2, 2021.

Hosted since 1982, and rotating categories annually, former first prize winners include violinist Benjamin Schmidt, pianist Marc-André Hamelin, and soprano René Flemming.
