Acclaimed American film-score composer Danny Elfman discusses his newly world-premiered 'Eleven Eleven' Concerto for Violin and Orchestra

Acclaimed American film-score composer Danny Elfman discusses his newly world-premiered Eleven Eleven Concerto for Violin and Orchestra.

The 4 movement dramatic, lyrical, highly-rhythmical and virtuosic work was premiered on the 21st June 2017, at the Prague Proms - by American violinist Sandy Cameron and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra.

 

 

“My inspiration to write concert music comes from a necessity more than just a desire to write free from moving images ... I like to describe it as being off-leash ..." Danny has told The Violin Channel.

"This concerto was specifically inspired by the desire to write music that could be a link between fans of classical music and fans of film music ... to try and find a way to write something extremely challenging yet still containing my voice ..." the Simpsons, Pee-Wee- Big Adventure, Edward Scissorhands and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory tv and film score composer has said.

“I had been touring the show Danny Elfman’s Music from the Films of Tim Burton around the world, and Sandy was performing a cadenza I had conceived for her for the Edward Scissorhands Suite ... clearly that was very well received and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra offered me the opportunity to write a violin concerto for her," he has said.
