Applications are set to close on the 28th of February for the 2018 Quadrennial International Violin Competition of Indianapolis
Applications are set to close on the 28th of February for the 10th Quadrennial International Violin Competition of Indianapolis – to be held in Indianapolis, United States from 31st of August to 16th of September, 2018.
Open to violinists of any nationality aged between 16 and 29 who are ready to embark on an international career, the 2018 gold medalist will receive USD $30,000, a Carnegie Hall Stern Auditorium recital debut and international concert engagements – plus career management and the 4 year use of the 1683 ‘ex-Gingold’ Stradivarius violin.
A total of more than US $250,000 in prizes and awards will be presented to the 2018 laureates.
Previous major prize winners include: Leonidas Kavakos, Judith Ingolfsson, Sergey Khachatryan, Simone Lamsma, Mihaela Martin, Ida Kavafian – and VC Artists Augustin Hadelich, Tessa Lark, Ji Young Lim, Yoojin Jang and Benjamin Beilman.
The 2018 jury will comprise: Jury President and Artistic Director Jaime Laredo, Arnold Steinhardt, Pamela Frank, Cho-Liang Lin, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Dong-Suk Kang, Rodney Friend, Mihaela Martin and Kyoko Takezawa.
