Yan Pascal Tortelier Announced New Chief Conductor of Iceland Symphony

The Iceland Symphony Orchestra has today announced the appointment of French conductor, Yan Pascal Tortelier as their new Chief Conductor - effective September 2016.

‘I believe that Yan Pascal Tortelier will help us make the leap onto the international stage ….” Orchestra Executive Director, Arna Kristín Einarsdóttir has said, “ … he makes the orchestra sound amazing and our audiences in Reykjavík love his concerts.”

“I am delighted and moved to be asked to become the Chief Conductor of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra …” the 68 year old has said, “ ... I enjoy a really good chemistry with the players and, of course, the new hall is a spectacular plus.’

Tortelier, currently in addition serves Principal Positions with the BBC Philharmonic, Sao Paulo Symphony and London’s Royal Academy of Music.
